  6.    It is IMPORTANT that you read ALL documentation accompanying a file
  7.    and/or file collection !

  9.    By sending in an UPDATE and/or REGISTRATION form you are stating that
  10.    you have FULLY read, understood and agree with ALL terms set forth in
  11.    ANY and ALL documentation accompanying a file and/or file collection.

  14.    Starting July 1, 1993, ALL update and registration fees and terms are
  15.    at the sole discretion of the author, Carl J. Hafner, and are subject
  16.    to change without notice.

  18.    The author retains ALL copyright, ownership and other property rights
  19.    to ALL files and/or file collections.

  22.                                  CURRENT TERMS
  23.                                  -------------

  25.       The following terms refer to ANY and ALL files or file collections
  26.       of ANY type, written or produced by the author, Carl J. Hafner.
  27.  
  28.    1) Any terms of update and/or registration will be honored for a period
  29.       not to exceed 90 days of a file and/or file collections release as
  30.       long as the update and/or registration being submitted is for a version
  31.       of the file and/or file collection which occurred within those 90
  32.       days and as long as the terms of update and/or registration have
  33.       been met for that particular file and/or file collection.
  34.  
  35.       What this means is that if you update and/or register within these
  36.       90 days and have met the terms of update and/or registration of a
  37.       file and/or file collection, you will NOT be subject to any increases
  38.       which may (MAY) occur within those 90 days.
  39.  
  40.       If you are planning to register and/or update a file and/or file
  41.       collection and it is more than 90 days past the date at the top
  42.       of this document and/or if it is more than 90 days past the
  43.       release date of a file and/or file collection, you may wish to contact
  44.       the author for a current list of titles, versions, terms and fees.
  45.  
  46.       This will ensure that the file and/or file collection you are updating 
  47.       and/or registering is still available and that the update/registration
  48.       fees you are sending in are current and correct.
  49.  
  50.       See below for ordering information.
  51.  
  52.    2) Anyone sending for a list of current terms and titles will receive
  53.       a 30 day grace period (effective from the postmark date on the
  54.       envelope). These 30 days will NOT be added to the 90 days referred
  55.       to above unless the postmark occurs on the 90th day of a file or
  56.       file collections release. Instead, they may run either concurrent
  57.       or even overlap.
  58.  
  59.       If you register and/or update during this period and have met the
  60.       terms of update and/or registration for a file and/or file collection,
  61.       you will NOT be subject to any increases which may (MAY) occur
  62.       during this time.
  63.  
  64.    3) At the discretion of the author, any materials which cannot be
  65.       processed will be returned. The author may also choose to contact the
  66.       party submitting an update and/or registration to inform them of the
  67.       latest terms and fees. At this point the party will have the option
  68.       of either sending in whatever materials may be required to fulfill the
  69.       update and/or registration terms, or of having any materials which have 
  70.       been submitted, returned.

  72.    4) All materials furnished by the author have been checked for damage.
  73.       If you receive a disk which HAS been damaged, please RETURN the damaged
  74.       disk for an immediate replacement.

  76.       REGISTRATION AND LICENSING
  77.       --------------------------

  79.    5) In paying the registration fee for a DEMO file and/or file collection
  80.       you are ordering AND licensing a fully working copy of that file
  81.       and/or file collection for YOUR OWN PERSONAL USE for as long as
  82.       you do NOT violate the following conditions.

  84.       a) You are free to make copies for your own personal use or for
  85.          archival storage purposes.
  86.       b) You may NOT rent, lend or give a licensed file and/or file
  87.          collection to anyone who is NOT a licensed owner of the same
  88.          file and/or file collection.
  89.       c) You may NOT place a licensed file and/or file collection on a
  90.          Bulletin Board Service (BBS).
  91.       d) You AGREE to pay the author for any damages which may occur due
  92.          to your voluntary or involuntary violation of these conditions.
  93.       e) You agree to abide by any additional registration and/or
  94.          licensing terms set forth in any file and/or file collections
  95.          documentation.

  97.       In paying the registration fee for a FULLY WORKING file and/or file 
  98.       collection you are...
  99.  
  100.       a) Stating that you have read, understood AND completely agree with
  101.          any and all terms of registration set forth in a file and/or file
  102.          collections documentation and/or this document and AGREE to abide
  103.          by these terms.
  104.  
  105.       b) Stating that you understand that you will NOT receive a licensed
  106.          copy of a file and/or file collection unless specifically requested.
  107.          If you DO request a licensed copy you are stating that you have
  108.          read and FULLY understand all of the terms associated with licensing
  109.          a file and/or file collection and AGREE to abide by them.
  110.  
  111.  
  112.       REGISTERED and/or LICENSED users are free to use any successive versions
  113.       of files and/or file collections of which they are either a REGISTERED
  114.       and/or LICENSED user and which are obtained from sources other than the
  115.       author at no additional fee.
  116.  
  117.       In other words, if you receive a fully working update of a file and/or
  118.       file collection from say, a SHAREWARE/PD software distributor, and are
  119.       a REGISTERED and/or LICENSED user of that file and/or file collection,
  120.       you do NOT need to send in any update fee. See below for further update
  121.       information.
  122.  
  123.       LICENSED and/or REGISTERED copies of a file and/or file collection
  124.       can generally be identified by an appropriate notice on the copyright
  125.       screen.
  126.  
  127.  
  128.       Violation of your licensing and/or registration agreement will result
  129.       in the instant revocation of ANY and ALL registration and/or licensing
  130.       agreements you may have made with the author. You will NOT be eligible
  131.       for ANY future updates OR registrations for ANY file and/or file
  132.       collection by the author.

  134.       It is up to you to uphold this agreement !

  136.  
  137.       REGISTERED/LICENSED UPDATES
  138.       ---------------------------
  139.       As a registered and/or licensed user of any file and/or file collection
  140.       you will receive notification of major updates (if applicable, see 
  141.       below) as they become available.
  142.  
  143.       MAJOR updates usually entail the addition of several features which
  144.       were not available in a previous version of a file and/or file
  145.       collection.
  146.  
  147.       MINOR updates usually entail the reworking of existing features in an
  148.       effort to maximize compatibility with different systems, software and/or
  149.       hardware.

  151.  
  152.       REGISTERED/LICENSED SUPPORT
  153.       ---------------------------
  154.  
  155.       Due to current costs, support is currently ONLY available through the
  156.       U.S. Post Office (regular mail). 
  157.  
  158.       If you are a REGISTERED and/or LICENSED user of a file and/or file
  159.       collection you ARE, of course, eligible to receive FULL technical
  160.       support. This includes, but is not limited to...
  161.  
  162.       o  Clarification of features not readily understood.
  163.       o  If/when available, access to special advance copies of files and/or
  164.          file collections containing new and/or requested features and/or
  165.          bug fixes.
  166.  
  167.       UPGRADES
  168.       --------
  169.  
  170.    6) Registered and/or Licensed users in good standing will receive
  171.       notification of updates as they become available.
  172.  
  173.       The phrase "in good standing" in this context means registered and/or
  174.       licensed users who have NOT violated their registration and/or
  175.       licensing agreement and have opted to remain on the mailing list.
  176.  
  177.       All update forms have an option to NOT order the update, but to remain
  178.       on the update mailing list. If you do not return an update form AT ALL,
  179.       your name will be removed from the mailing list. You will STILL be
  180.       eligible for updates. You won't, however, receive notification of them.
  181.  
  182.       Upgrade fees are generally designed to offset the cost of materials,
  183.       shipping and handling. Each file and/or file collection contains,
  184.       when applicable, the current terms of update for that particular file
  185.       and/or file collection.

  188.    7) By sending in an update and/or registration form you are stating that
  189.       you have read, understood and completely agree with the terms set forth
  190.       in ANY and ALL documentation accompanying a file and/or file
  191.       collection and AGREE to abide by them.

  195.                              A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR
  196.                              ----------------------
  197.                         (or what does all of this mean?)

  199.    As program versions develop, so usually do their features. A program with
  200.    a few features which was available several years ago for, say, $5.00, may
  201.    now have many features and have a current registration fee of say, $15.00.
  202.  
  203.    To try and avoid the cost and delay of correspondence in bringing an
  204.    interested party up to date, this file was created. If you have obtained
  205.    a file and/or file collection which is fairly old, you should definitely
  206.    send for a current list of titles, versions, terms and fees.
  207.  
  208.    This will ensure that the title for which you are sending is still
  209.    available and that the update/registration materials you are submitting 
  210.    are current and correct.
  211.  
  212.    With only a couple of exceptions, registration fees have remained the same
  213.    for the past couple of years. The one notable increase was a materials/
  214.    shipping/handling fee which was the direct result of the lack of Shareware
  215.    support.
  216.  
  217.    After I switched to DEMOS, registrations increased. I realize it's a
  218.    bit inconvenient at times to have to "order" a file, but there was
  219.    ample evidence of piracy and this seemed the appropriate response.
  220.    My apologies to all of you HONEST Shareware supporters out there and
  221.    my sincerest THANKS for your continued support !
